How to Choose the Right Type of Sunnies for Your Face Shape

How to Choose the Right Type of Sunnies for Your Face Shape

It’s already Mid-march and today’s scorching heat reminds us of one great thing – SUMMER! It’s the time of the year when vacation plans are in full swing and everybody is just excited to hit the beach in their flashiest sets of bikinis and sundresses.  Of course, summer fashion doesn’t end with just a suit because part of the usual beach essentials is a pair of sunnies to complement the whole look.

While we know that no summer wardrobe is fully complete without the perfect pair of sunglasses, I guess it’s also important for us to note that wearing the right pair of sunnies is just as important as picking the best figure-flattering bathing suit, right?

Now, I’ve listed a few useful tips to help you choose the best eye accessory that’s not just best for your face but is also part of the current trends.

So how do you know which pairs of sunglasses are right for you? First, you’ll need to figure out whether your face is round, oval, heart, or square. Get some help from a friend if you’re having struggles identifying your face shape.

SUNNIES

Once you’ve found your face shape, then you can begin picking sunglasses that will complement your features.

THE ROUND FACE

SUNNIES

Having a round shaped face means the areas of your face, particularly the forehead and across cheekbones, are the widest. Your chin area isn’t as wide but it is not considered narrow either. Sticking to sunglasses that feature rectangular shapes would help your face appear longer and thinner. Tinted sunnies like aviators would also make a great pair for you since it can tone down the fullness of the face without looking overly dramatic. Try getting mustard or pink coloured shades because these colors are nailing it this season.

THE HEART FACE

This shape projects a cute and young vibe for it features heart-shaped hairline, narrow jaw area and small chin. The forehead tends to be too wide to balance out the jaw and chin area’s narrowness. The best way to keep things balanced is to wear pairs with light-colored rims. Oversized round shapes and fitting aviators will also help narrow down the forehead area without really covering the entire face. Cat-eye frames are also best. Try getting leopard-prints and gold-rimmed sunglasses for that edgy, fierce look.

THE OVAL FACE

Sunnies

An oval face is sometimes called the long-shaped face because of its elongated feature. It is considered to be an easy face shape to deal with since oval shape faces tend to have balanced features. Since this particular face shape is (technically) versatile, any shape of sunglasses would work with it. Stay away from extremely oversized glasses because it may eat up the entire face. In addition, choose frames that highlight the cheekbones, as most oval-shaped people have very prominent cheekbones.

THE SQUARE FACE

Square face shape is the one that has the strongest and most prominent facial features. The chiseled shape gives that natural contour of the jaw lines, wide forehead, wide area across the cheekbones and a squee-shaped chin. For this face shape, it is best to stick to round-shaped sunglasses to soften the strong and sharp features of the face. One can also opt to get rimless shades or aviators to balance the facial features out.

Remember: Choosing the best pair of sunglasses should not be a frustrating task. While there are frames that work to set off your killer features and there are those that just look meh, know that is always fun and rewarding to experiment. Try different shapes, tints and designs that will not only suit your face shape but will also match your personality.

Lastly, summer is a happy season so don’t forget to have fun and dress up!

These are great tips! I always wondered what kind of sunnies would fit the shape of my face because other shapes makes my face look wider. lol. Thank you for this!

I’m actually having a hard time identifying if I have a round or square face. Lol. This is actually a much-needed idea especially that summer is just around the corner.
