Starbucks Introduces the New Teavana

Once again, Starbucks makes another BOLD move as they launch their premium line of tea drinks – the new TEAVANA HANDCRAFTED BEVERAGES. This line of drinks provides a modern tea experience giving customers the opportunity to enjoy a range of unique iced and hot tea beverages with strong, layered flavors, handcrafted the way only Starbucks can.
Of course we know that a lot of Filipinos love tea and it’s been known for centuries that tea can provide us with certain health benefits (health aficionado here!) In fact, tea is the second most-consumed beverage in the world, just after water.
I, personally, look forward to my daily tea time because just like any other tita in the world, I get a little moment of reflection every time I sip that warm, broth extract and I feel a sense of relaxation and happiness afterwards. Plus YES to GROUP TEA TIME – there’s nothing like a shared pot of tea to start conversations with friends (or smooth the way for awkward discussions with one’s mother, as I’ve learned from personal experience).
Now moving forward, let me give you a glimpse of what happened during the Teavana launch last September 10.
The event was held at the new and colourful Starbucks branch in Eugenio Lopez Avenue, Diliman, QC (just across PBB house). I was actually kinda late because I came from a photoshoot but I managed to make it just in time for the demos and tasting and all the other fun stuff.
It’s interesting that this event marked the launch of both the “Handcrafted Beverages” which are the Iced Shaken Teas and the “Full Leaf Teas” which are also sold in boxes (of sachets) – all new tea offerings of Starbucks PH.
During the program, they made us (press people and Starbucks babies) taste (and smell and feel and experience, OMG) all the amazing handcrafted Beverages under the Teavana line:
Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls
This refreshing beverage combines Starbucks® Teavana™ hibiscus tea and bursting pearls of real pomegranate juice for a tart kick of flavour. The pearls really complement the drink! Love every bit of it!
Iced Shaken Black Tea with Ruby Grapefruit and Honey
Combines a traditional western black tea experience with a creative twist that is delicious iced with bites of pomelo fruit, grapefruit and honey for a touch of added sweetness.
Matcha & Espresso Fusion
HELLO MATCHA LOVERS! This drink is made of powder layered with milk mixed with Starbucks signature Espresso Roast to create a beautiful layered beverage and an inventive combination of coffee and tea, to be enjoyed hot or iced.
With Starbucks® Teavana, Starbucks also draws on its long heritage of commitment to using only the most premium, high-quality ingredients. Leveraging deep relationships with tea growers, Teavana sources the world’s highest-quality teas and botanicals.
In addition to handcrafted beverages, Starbucks also introduced Starbucks® Teavana™ Full Leaf Tea Sachets.
Now, you can order a box of this variant containing 12 sachets, or you can grab a cup of tea over the bar for here and to go. Choose from the following flavours and let your taste buds do the verdict:
Black Tea
English Breakfast – A handcrafted blend of Indian Assam, Sri Lankan Ceylon and Chinese black tea. This tastes great with or without milk.
White Tea
Youthberry™ – Inspired by super fruits, acai fruit is blended with tropical pineapple and mango flavors with high quality white tea, balanced by rosehips and tart green apple.
Green Tea
Emperor’s Clouds and Mist™ – Exclusively harvested during the month of April and grown on the steep, windy slopes of Huangshan Mountain at 3,500 feet above sea level, this tea has a rich body and a naturally sweet flavor.
Caffeine-Free Herbal Teas
Hibiscus – Bright, juicy papaya and mango combined with citrus lemongrass for a naturally caffeine-free blend. Hibiscus flowers lend the tea a slight tartness and extraordinary deep fuchsia color.
Mint Blend – This tea’s spearmint base is rounded out with cool peppermint notes and undertones of spicy-sweet lemon verbena. The mint leaves come from the highly sought after and prized Pacific Northwest mint known for its high amount of mint oil.
Chamomile – The Chamomile used for this tea is sourced from Croatia. It provides the overarching flavor for this soft, soothing floral blend.
Sounds awesome right? I actually had a hard time choosing my favorite tang (because everything just tastes so good) but I guess I’ll go with the Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea with Pomegranate Pearls and the English Breakfast tea (you know I’m a sucker for coffee and this one has that sting that makes it quite strong).
Certainly, the Starbucks Teavana collection wouldn’t be complete without the accessories. Their tasting cups are beautifully-designed with a minimalist and Japanese-inspired accent. I’m so happy I got a12 oz. tasting cup which is best to keep my tea warm (forevs).
I also had fun chatting with the coffee masters because just like all the other Starbucks baristas, they all look so welcoming and accommodating, kahit super kulit ko na!
Hi Denise!
And the best part of the day was = winning the best dressed award haha! Credits to my stylist Carl Pabilona, woot! I got to take home these new Starbucks cards and they really look cool!

17th Sep 2016 - 6:12 amLooks interesting. As I write this comment, Starbucks is just next door (almost). Too bad they took away their outdoor settings here at the Shangri-La Mall. One thing I do like about Starbucks is that they have new products being introduced from time to time and this is good especially for their loyal customers. Something new so it doesn’t get to routine.

18th Sep 2016 - 1:26 amSuch a bold move indeed. With other coffee shops offering teas, it is high time for Starbucks to introduce their own set of tea products. Cant wait to have a glass of my own Starbucks tea variants. Congrats on the cards. You truly stand out on that dress.

18th Sep 2016 - 4:19 amThis looks really interesting and it’s fortunate you got to attend there. You’ve had some free tastes for sure. Reading all these blogs and write-ups about some teas made me want to order and try some for our family. Maybe now that starbucks offer these tea line, I could enjoy a drink during this rainy season.
